Valara waterfalls

Valara Falls, a scenic spot
The nearby Valara Waterfalls complements Cheeyappara with its own lush greenery and is a lovely picnic location. Valara Falls lies amidst several other tiny cascades which are part of the chain of waterfalls in the Deviyar River originating from the Western Ghats. The view is spectacular in the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons when the falling cascade makes the air around it misty.  But during the summer season, the volume of water here is low.

About

Valara Waterfalls is situated at a distance of 40 km from Munnar on the way from Kochi in NH 49. It is a chain of waterfalls in the Deviyar River that originates from the Western Ghats. Water jumps down from one rocky slab to the next thus creating several layers. The waters cascade down a hill from a height of 300 feet through rocky slopes amidst the dense green forests. The waterfall retains its charm throughout the year but during the summer season, the volume of water here is slightly lower. Since the waterfalls are located amidst thick jungles, reaching close to the waterfall is quite challenging and you may require experts to guide you.
